RQB

  • stands for Austrian Reference Point for Quality Assurance in General and Vocational Education and Training – die Referenzstelle für Qualität in der Allgemein- und BerufsBildung
  • supports the department III/5 Quality Development and Assurance of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF) in the development, implementation and supervision of the quality management system for Austrian schools (QMS)
  • is a network node in the EQAVET network and cross-links the actors and institutions within the vocational education and training in Austria - sees itself as a contact point and service facility for all questions concerning the thematic of quality in VET
  • since 2021 has taken on as a new task the certification of learning apps and the associated award of the learning app seal of approval
  • sees itself as a contact point and service organisation for all questions relating to the theme of quality in general and vocational education and training

On the 1st of October 2007, ARQA-VET, the Austrian Reference Point for Quality Assurance in Vocational Education and Training, was established by the Directorate II of the BMUKK (currently BMBWF) as an organisation unit within the OeAD-GmbH. On the 1st of January 2021 ARQA-VET was renamed as RQB.

Since 1 January 2020, RQB, the NCP (National Coordination Point for the NQF), Ö-Cert (Quality Framework for Adult Education in Austria), IEB (Adult Education Initiative) and International Testing Services have been incorporated into the  Department for Quality and Transparency as four independent teams under the leadership of Franz Gramlinger. In the first half of 2023, the Digital Competences Office was established as a new division in the Department for Quality and Transparency.
